Benefits and funding
Government funding is available to GTOs from a range of Commonwealth and State and Territory programs to support their role in employing and supporting apprentices and trainees. The five main sources are:

1. The Joint Group Training Program, involving matched funding arrangements between the Commonwealth, States and Territories. These funds are only available to GTOs that meet the National Standards. Contact your STA for information on how to apply for funds.

2. The Group Training Australian Apprenticeship Targeted Initiatives Program administered by the Department of Education Employment and Work Relations (DEEWR). Annual funding allocation for this program is approximately $4M and is designed to assist GTOs in provide additional New Apprenticeships opportunities in areas which have been identified by Commonwealth and State/Territory governments as critical, challenging or underserviced.

3. The Commonwealth Australian Apprenticeships Incentives Program administered by DEEWR. This program is available to all eligible employers, including GTOs, who take on New Apprentices. These incentives include commencement, and in some cases, progression and completion payments.

4. State/Territory incentives and subsidies associated with the employment of certain types of apprentices and trainees.

5. Group Training Special Incentive Program.
A special incentive payment additional to other employer incentives, is available to eligible Group Training Companies, for each Australian Apprentice employed and placed with a host employer.
